A quick update regarding a few things that have been in the news recently.
1. Flu vaccinations for 50-64 years NOT in a clinical at risk group
The NHS is still advising surgeries to not provide the vaccine to this group yet as there are continued concentrated efforts to ensure as many clinically vulnerable patients are vaccinated. There is also no legal route for the vaccination to be given to patients at the current time, even if we wanted to do something.
News reports have mentioned vitamin D being provided to vulnerable elderly patients. As far as we are aware this is still being processed by the central government & NHS to work out what to do and how to do it. The surgery are not in a position to offer this out, but it is available at low cost from pharmacies if people want to start of a supplement.
We are not in a position to offer appointments for Covid vaccinations. Fast-moving work is under-way to determine how vaccinations may be offered across the whole of the Regis locality. At present no vaccination is available to the NHS and the fine details will undoubtedly come out in time as things progress.
